Bitcoin (BTC) is at a critical juncture to determine whether it will complete an inverse head and shoulders pattern. The key turning point is $67,200.
According to U.Today on August 2 (local time), Bitcoin formed the right shoulder of an inverse head and shoulders pattern around $63,382. Its price, which had exceeded $81,000 in May, fell to around $57,000. Although a bottoming-out trend has since appeared, it needs to break above the neckline of $67,200 to confirm a trend reversal.
TechCharts analyst Aksel Kibar evaluated this pattern as virtually the only short-term rebound basis that Bitcoin bulls can expect in early August. Bitcoin is still below the neckline. Whether buying pressure can generate the necessary trading volume to break $67,200 will determine the success or failure of the reversal.
Ethereum (ETH) showed a reversal signal before Bitcoin. In the ETH/BTC chart, a similar bottoming pattern has already broken above its top. The technical target is set at 0.0312. U.Today analyzed that large funds are moving from Bitcoin to Ethereum, reducing the trading volume needed for a quick Bitcoin rebound.
Ethereum is reconfirming the $1,875 support level from above in dollar terms. If this support level holds, an upward path to the technical target of $2,163 could open up. Conversely, if Bitcoin fails to break $67,200 within a few days, the inverse head and shoulders pattern is likely to be invalidated.
Kibar predicted that if the neckline breakout fails, selling pressure could regain dominance. The next support levels are suggested at $60,000 and $58,000. Bitcoin's short-term direction depends on whether it breaks $67,200 and the re-inflow of funds that have moved to Ethereum.
