US President Donald Trump announced that the US military would take strong action after intercepting ballistic missiles fired by Iran towards Jordan. In an interview with Fox News on the 29th (local time), President Trump said, "We will hit them hard, and they will suffer severe damage." He explained that the US military intercepted all missiles in flight in response to the surprise attack within minutes, adding that he personally watched videos of US military personnel reporting missile coordinates in real-time during the interception process. President Trump also stated that the night airstrikes carried out by the US military, along with Saudi Arabia, against Iranian-backed Iraqi Shia militias were conducted in prior coordination with the Iraqi government. He referred to these militias as "a cancerous presence in the world" and added that he is considering further warnings to Iranian proxy forces.
