SpaceX (SPCX) stock price has plummeted by about 50% from its June high, falling below its IPO price.
According to cryptocurrency specialized media CryptoPotato on July 28 (local time), SpaceX stock closed at $113.5 on July 27. This is the lowest closing price since its listing on June 12. Compared to the post-listing high of over $225, the drop is close to 50%. It also fell below the IPO price of $135.
SpaceX was the most actively traded tokenized stock on platforms like Hyperliquid and Binance before and after its initial public offering. Immediately after its listing, its market capitalization once exceeded $2.6 trillion. However, by July 27, it had decreased to approximately $1.5 trillion.
The initial stock price reflected expectations for the growth of Starlink, reusable rockets, artificial intelligence (AI), and orbital data center businesses. Subsequently, investors began to be wary that it could take several years to generate substantial profits. Profit-taking and the liquidation of bullish positions built immediately after listing also accelerated the decline.
Financial burden also pressured investor sentiment. SpaceX recorded sales of approximately $19 billion last year but incurred losses of $4.9 billion. It raised $25 billion in the bond market to build high-cost technological infrastructure. Concerns also grew about rising borrowing costs and AI investments using debt.
The market is watching the first quarterly earnings announcement for the listed company, scheduled for August 4. From August 6, some early investors and qualified employees will be able to sell a portion of their held shares. Sales and losses, the scale of AI investment, Starlink's growth momentum, and the volume of new sell-offs are considered key variables that will determine future stock price trends.
