The Society for Worldwide Interbank Financial Telecommunication (SWIFT) announced that it has commenced the initial operation of its self-developed blockchain-based ledger, launching a 24-hour cross-border payment pilot for deposit tokens involving 17 banks worldwide. The 17 banks participating in the pilot include ANZ, BNP Paribas, BNY, Citi, HSBC, Lloyds Bank, Standard Chartered, UBS, UOB, and Wells Fargo. The project was built in nine months, reflecting the opinions of international financial institutions after its announcement last year.
