Reuters reported that as projections suggest the development of quantum computers could accelerate faster than expected, the cryptocurrency industry has begun preparations to transition blockchain networks to post-quantum cryptographic systems. Google predicted in March that "quantum computers could reach a level capable of decrypting encryption by 2029," and Citigroup also analyzed that the point at which cryptocurrencies become vulnerable to hacking due to the advancement of quantum computers and AI could arrive sooner than expected. Reuters explained, "The cryptocurrency industry is concerned about the burden of an early transition to post-quantum cryptographic systems. However, foundations such as the Ethereum (ETH) Foundation and Algorand (ALGO) Foundation have already announced roadmaps and stated their support for post-quantum systems."
