BOK Governor "Stablecoins and deposit tokens each have specialized uses"

"Won-based stablecoin system should be introduced promptly"

Shin Hyun-song, Governor of the Bank of Korea, stated on the 9th, "I believe stablecoins and deposit tokens each have specialized uses."

Governor Shin made these remarks at a plenary session of the National Assembly's Finance, Economy, and Planning Committee in response to a related question from Democratic Party lawmaker Ahn Do-geol, saying, "Stablecoins and deposit tokens will continue to maintain a competitive and complementary relationship while sustaining the currency ecosystem."

He emphasized, "Regarding the digital ecosystem, there is no difference from the position I stated during the hearing," adding, "There is also no change in my position that a Won-based stablecoin system should be introduced promptly."
