SpaceX (SPCX) moved Bitcoin (BTC) for the first time in six months, reigniting rumors of a sell-off, but its holding of 18,712 BTC remains unchanged, so no actual sale has been confirmed.
According to crypto news outlet BeInCrypto on July 8 (local time), blockchain tracking firm Arkham stated that SpaceX conducted a test transfer of Bitcoin worth $88 between its own wallets. Arkham noted, “A SpaceX address moved Bitcoin for the first time in six months,” asking, “Is SpaceX planning to move more Bitcoin?”
This small transfer, combined with past instances of large wallet movements, has heightened market caution. In October 2025, after several months of wallet inactivity, SpaceX moved 2,495 BTC, worth $257 million at the time, to two new wallets. In July 2025, it moved Bitcoin worth $300 million to Coinbase Prime's custody service.
SpaceX's past selling history also fueled the sell-off rumors. According to Arkham's records, SpaceX disposed of a large portion of its Bitcoin holdings twice during the 2022 crypto bear market. In contrast, Tesla has not moved its 11,509 BTC since 2024.
However, according to BitcoinTreasuries data, SpaceX's Bitcoin holdings remain at 18,712 BTC. There has been no change in holdings since the S-1 filing on May 21, and the value of its assets has decreased from $1.45 billion at the time to approximately $1.2 billion.
The S-1 filing also revealed 10,427 BTC that on-chain tracking firms had not identified. Previous on-chain estimates were only around 8,285 BTC, meaning the addresses tracked by Arkham accounted for less than half of SpaceX's Bitcoin holdings. No actual selling activity has been confirmed following the $88 test transfer.
