DAXA "Demands for Korean Won exchange PC app installation are 100% suspicious"... SNS impersonation phishing alert

The Digital Asset eXchange Alliance (DAXA) urged investors to exercise special caution, stating that phishing sites impersonating domestic Korean Won exchanges are spreading. It particularly emphasized refraining from accessing and installing programs through channels other than official websites, as cases of inducing the installation of 'PC-only trading programs' through SNS advertisements have been confirmed.
DAXA announced on the 8th that phishing sites impersonating domestic Korean Won exchanges are currently being distributed through social networking service (SNS) advertisements, including Facebook.
According to DAXA, clicking on these advertisements leads to fake websites designed with screens similar to actual domestic Korean Won exchanges. These sites are found to induce users to install programs by presenting phrases such as 'transaction fee exemption upon PC-only program installation' and 'special event provided when using the dedicated program'.
However, domestic Korean Won exchanges currently do not offer separate PC-installable trading programs (Desktop Apps) to users. DAXA explained that if such program installation is requested, it is highly likely to be a scam for phishing sites or the distribution of malicious programs. DAXA warned that if users install the program, login information, personal information, and authentication information could be stolen, and remote control functions could be executed, leading to damage not only to virtual assets but also to financial assets.
Accordingly, DAXA urged users to ▲directly access the exchange's official website instead of SNS advertisements ▲immediately stop using if PC program installation is requested ▲be wary of advertisements promoting excessive benefits such as 'free fees' ▲prohibit downloading unverified executable files (APK, EXE, etc.) ▲immediately report suspicious sites to the exchange's customer service center or relevant authorities if discovered.
DAXA plans to continue monitoring phishing sites and malicious program distribution cases targeting virtual asset investors in cooperation with its member companies and strengthen user protection activities. Kim Jae-jin, Executive Vice President of DAXA, stated, "Impersonation tactics are becoming increasingly sophisticated and elaborate, and anyone can become a victim. Special caution is especially needed when inducing PC program installation."
