It is now possible to book over 2.2 million hotels worldwide with XRP. The scope of XRP payments has expanded beyond the trading market to include the travel and accommodation industries.
According to crypto news outlet U.Today on July 5 (local time), travel platform Travala announced via X (formerly Twitter) that over 2.2 million hotels worldwide can be booked with XRP. Bookings are confirmed instantly and payments can be made without going through banks.
Travala stated, "XRP was created to move value quickly," and "over 2.2 million hotels worldwide can be booked with XRP." With this payment expansion, users can now pay for over 3 million travel products on Travala with XRP.
The use of XRP for payments is also expanding in the AI sector. Since the x402 facilitator went live on the XRP Ledger in February, AI agents have been able to pay for services with XRP and RLUSD without an API key or account.
Currently, agent transactions processed through the XRP Ledger's x402 facilitator are nearing 1 million. Ripple launched the XRPL AI Starter Kit in June, also unveiling development tools to build AI agents that can send payments on the XRP Ledger.
Ripple has also joined the ecosystem supporting Mastercard's Agent Pay for Machines initiative. The outlet reported that Ripple is supporting the development of use cases and common rules for agent-based payments, utilizing the XRP Ledger and RLUSD in relevant payment infrastructure.
