According to CNN, amid escalating tensions with Cuba, the U.S. Southern Command announced that the Nimitz aircraft carrier strike group has arrived in the Caribbean Sea. The strike group consists of an aircraft carrier, its air wing, and more than one guided-missile destroyer. On the same day, the Trump administration announced the indictment of former Cuban leader Raul Castro. Cuban authorities had previously expressed concerns that this indictment could be a prelude to military intervention. Former Venezuelan President Maduro was also extradited to the U.S. and is currently on trial after a U.S. military arrest operation in January this year, following his indictment by the U.S.
