Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) started higher than the previous day's opening price in the early trading hours of May 15, but their upward momentum quickly weakened in morning trading.
According to Yahoo Finance on May 15 (local time), Bitcoin opened at $81,069.54 on Friday. This was 2.3% higher than Thursday's opening price. However, as of 7:10 AM (US Eastern Time), Bitcoin's price fell to $80,596.43, giving back some of its early gains.
Ethereum also opened at $2,282.46 on the same day. This was 1.1% higher than Thursday's opening price. Yahoo Finance reported that while both Bitcoin and Ethereum prices started at high levels, they showed a downward trend in the morning.
This trend indicates that major cryptocurrencies have not fully resolved the short-term selling pressure even after starting higher than the previous day. Bitcoin started above the $81,000 mark but dropped to the low $80,000s in morning trading, and Ethereum's opening price increase was also lower than Bitcoin's.
The price movement presented by Yahoo Finance on this day shows that the cryptocurrency market is experiencing both an upward start and an intraday pullback. Bitcoin and Ethereum showed bullish signals immediately after opening, but their upward momentum was limited in morning trading due to a combination of investors' short-term profit-taking and trend confirmation.
