The Korea Society, a non-profit organization promoting US-Korea friendship, announced on the 13th (local time) that it has selected Jensen Huang, CEO of NVIDIA, as the recipient of the 2026 'Van Fleet Award'.
The Korea Society explained that it selected him as this year's recipient in recognition of his pioneering leadership in the artificial intelligence (AI) and semiconductor industries, and his contributions to expanding cooperation with innovative Korean companies such as Samsung Electronics and SK Group.

President Kim conveyed that Jensen Huang expressed great honor in receiving this award and conveyed his intention to attend the awards ceremony, considering the importance of the relationship with Korea.
The Van Fleet Award was established in 1995 to honor General James A. Van Fleet, who participated in the Korean War as commander of the US Eighth Army and founded The Korea Society in 1957.
Each year, the award is given to individuals who have contributed to strengthening US-Korea relations.
Past recipients include former US Presidents Jimmy Carter and George H.W. Bush, former President Kim Dae-jung, late Samsung Chairman Lee Kun-hee, Hyundai Motor Group Honorary Chairman Chung Mong-koo, and BTS.
The awards ceremony will be held on September 28 in New York, accompanied by an annual dinner.
