Cointelegraph reported that three individuals who extorted over $6.5 million in cryptocurrency in the United States have been indicted by a federal grand jury. They are accused of impersonating delivery drivers to invade victims' homes in California between November 22 and December 31 last year, then using violence to steal seed phrases that grant access to cryptocurrency. It was identified that one of the four victims was forced to transfer $6.5 million worth of cryptocurrency to wallets controlled by the suspects. The three suspects were arrested last December and are awaiting trial on charges including conspiracy to commit robbery, conspiracy to commit kidnapping, attempted robbery, and attempted kidnapping. Meanwhile, "wrench attacks," which are violent incidents targeting cryptocurrency holders, are on the rise globally, and 88 people were indicted in France in April on related charges.
