MicroStrategy (Nasdaq ticker: MSTR) CEO Phong Le recently stated in a CNBC interview, "We will take a mathematical approach rather than an ideological one," adding, "MicroStrategy will only sell its held Bitcoin in two specific cases." He cited the payment of dividends for perpetual preferred stock STRC as the first case. Phong Le explained, "If it is deemed more advantageous to increase Bitcoin per share (BPS) than to issue new shares, we can sell Bitcoin and use it as a source for preferred stock dividends." The second case is for tax-saving purposes. He said, "If realizing or deferring profits and losses in the tax structure can maximize tax-saving effects, we may sell some Bitcoin." Meanwhile, MicroStrategy has announced a shift from its previous 'never sell' stance, stating that it may sell its held Bitcoin if it is advantageous for the company.
