Blockstream CEO Adam Back attended Consensus Miami 2026 and stated, “The recent series of DeFi hacking incidents are actually strengthening institutional demand for Bitcoin.” According to CoinDesk, he explained, "Bitcoin's infrastructure is built on simplicity, robustness, and security, differentiating it from experimental blockchain ecosystems where smart contract vulnerabilities and repeated hacking incidents occur. Institutional investors have gained a more sophisticated understanding of cryptocurrency risks through the DeFi hacking incidents that have continued this year. As a result, many institutions are moving towards adapting to Bitcoin's incentive structure and conservative security model, rather than trying to force Bitcoin into existing financial systems."
