Ethereum co-founder Vitalik Buterin attended the Blockchain Summit in Shanghai and stated that blockchain needs new encryption technology. According to Wu Blockchain, he explained, "Blockchain is evolving from a simple standalone ledger into a broader cryptographic network encompassing Layer 1, Layer 2, mempools, off-chain computation, and structures where multiple participants jointly produce blocks. With the advancement of powerful data analysis technology and artificial intelligence (AI), the limitations of the privacy models of early public blockchains are becoming increasingly clear. Accordingly, technologies such as SNARK, STARK, Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), and formal verification are becoming key tools for privacy, scalability, and security. In particular, Zero-Knowledge technology is moving beyond the long-term roadmap stage and is being concretized into actual EIPs. Simultaneously, AI is accelerating the development and verification of complex cryptographic systems."
