High-capacity Cooling Distribution Unit (CDU) and BESS Approved as NVIDIA 'DSX Ready' Products
LG Electronics Manages High-Density, High-Heat AI DCs Stably with In-Row Method
LG Energy Solution Selected as the Only BESS Partner Among Domestic Battery Companies
LG Electronics and LG Energy Solution are accelerating their foray into the global AI data center market by joining NVIDIA's next-generation AI factory construction program, 'DSX Ready'.
On the 22nd, LG Electronics and LG Energy Solution announced that their high-capacity Cooling Distribution Units (CDU) and Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) have been included in NVIDIA's 'DSX Ready' products.
NVIDIA is building the 'DSX AI Factory Platform' to integrate and optimize the entire process of next-generation AI factories, from design to construction and operation. DSX Ready is a qualification program for products and solutions that meet the relevant requirements.
LG Electronics' 2.5 MW (megawatt) class CDU, which received NVIDIA's specification approval this time, is considered a key facility for stable thermal management in AI data centers, excelling in implementing the 'in-row' method that groups multiple racks into row-level units and cools them simultaneously with a high-capacity CDU.
LG Electronics also received NVIDIA's specification approval for its 600 kW (kilowatt) and 1 MW class CDU products in July and September, respectively. The company explained that this 2.5 MW class CDU product further met all additional requirements, proving its high technical prowess in the global liquid cooling market.
LG Energy Solution was selected as NVIDIA's DSX Ready BESS partner, making it the only domestic battery company to achieve this.
The approved product is the high-capacity lithium iron phosphate (LFP)-based 'JF2 AC Link', characterized by high energy efficiency and long lifespan.
Furthermore, its modular design shortens construction time and allows for rapid expansion to match the growing scale of data centers, enabling it to respond to large-scale increases in power demand.
It features 'AI load leveling' performance, which charges and discharges to mitigate load fluctuations in response to changes in AI server power consumption, and enhanced 'voltage maintenance' functionality to stably supply power even when grid voltage drops or rises sharply.
LG Energy Solution currently operates five Energy Storage System (ESS) production bases in North America, including ▲ Michigan Lansing/Holland, ▲ NextStar Energy in Ontario, Canada, ▲ Ultium Cells Tennessee, a GM joint venture, and ▲ L-H Battery Company Ohio Plant, a Honda joint venture. The company plans to secure ESS production capacity of over 50 GWh (gigawatt-hours) in North America by the end of the year, accelerating its penetration into the rapidly growing North American AI data center ESS market.
