Bitcoin Magazine reported that Charles Schwab, a major U.S. financial firm, evaluated the passage of the U.S. Strategic Bitcoin Reserve Bill by the House Financial Services Committee as potentially being “a significant first step towards legislation.” Previously, on the 16th (local time), the U.S. House Financial Services Committee passed the U.S. Reserve Modernization Act (H.R. 8957), which legalizes strategic Bitcoin reserves, with a vote of 28 to 21. The bill includes provisions for the federal government to incorporate Bitcoins acquired through confiscation, etc., into strategic reserves managed by the Treasury Department. For the bill to be enacted into final law, it must subsequently pass the full House and the Senate, and then receive the President's signature.
