Although Alphabet's stock has continued its downward trend since hitting its 52-week high in May, Wall Street's outlook remains optimistic. Evercore ISI raised its 12-month target price to $450, citing the recovery of Google's search business and improved AI competitiveness of Gemini. The average target price from Wall Street forecasts over the past three months also reached $427.08.
According to crypto media outlet Finbold on September 17 (local time), Mark Mahaney, an analyst at Evercore ISI, maintained his 'Buy' rating for Alphabet on Wednesday, raising his 12-month target price by 7.14% from the previous $420 to $450. Based on the recent closing price of $342.87, the previous target price reflected an upside potential of 22.5%, and the new target price reflects an upside potential of 31.25%.
The main reason for the upward revision of the target price was cited as the recovery of Google's flagship business, its search engine. Google Search is evaluated to have stopped the market share decline it experienced in 2024 and 2025 and has partially recovered. Additionally, the fact that Google's AI model Gemini is performing well in competition with ChatGPT was also presented as a positive factor.
Alphabet's investment opinions from Wall Street in September have also generally leaned towards 'Buy'. However, not all analysts shared the same view. Gil Luria of D.A. Davidson issued a 'Hold' rating on the 2nd of this month, and no separate 12-month target price was recorded on TipRanks. In contrast, Evercore, along with Rosenblatt and Bank of America, issued 'Buy' ratings. Rosenblatt's target price is $410, reflecting an upside potential of 19.58% compared to the recent closing price.
Expanding the scope to the past three months, investment opinions related to Alphabet compiled by TipRanks include 24 positive opinions, 4 neutral opinions, and 0 sell opinions. Based on this, the aggregated 12-month average target price is $427.08, which is 24.56% higher than the recent closing price. The lowest target price suggested was also $379.
Although Alphabet's stock has shown weakness since its 52-week high, Evercore has upgraded its outlook based on the recovery of the search business and the improved AI competitiveness of Gemini. While individual target prices from Wall Street show differences, TipRanks data cited by Finbold indicated an average 12-month target price of $427.08.
