Abnormal asset transfers have been confirmed in the DCENT app wallet, which supports XRP, leading to an urgent recommendation for some users to transfer their assets.

According to U.Today, a cryptocurrency specialized media outlet, on September 16 (local time), XRPL Korea shared a security notice announced by DCENT. DCENT stated that it had detected abnormal asset transfers in its app wallet and initiated an urgent investigation. Initial investigations indicated that the problem was limited to the DCENT app wallet.

DCENT recommended immediate action for users who hold assets in the app wallet, regardless of the amount. Users who use the same mnemonic phrase in both the app wallet and hardware wallet are also subject to this recommendation. These users were advised to move their assets to a secure hardware wallet or another trusted wallet address as soon as possible.

An additional notice stated that no damage originating from the DCENT hardware wallet itself has been confirmed to date. However, users who need to move their assets must first update the DCENT app to the latest version. It warned against initiating transactions in the app wallet before updating. If the same recovery phrase has ever been entered into the app wallet, action is required regardless of where that phrase was originally generated.

Conversely, if a hardware wallet user has never entered or restored their recovery phrase into the DCENT app wallet, no further action is required. DCENT emphasized that it does not ask for recovery phrases or private keys, nor does it request users to send assets to a separate wallet address under the guise of recovery or compensation. It also stated that it does not operate an official customer support account on X (formerly Twitter).

DCENT, launched by the domestic cybersecurity company IOTRUST, supports several cryptocurrencies, including XRP. DCENT urged users not to use wallet addresses and links delivered through unofficial channels such as direct messages, emails, and social media while the cause of the incident is being investigated.
