Nokia (NOK) jumped approximately 6% in pre-market trading, driven by the performance of its AI radio access network developed in collaboration with Nvidia.
According to Benzinga on September 16 (local time), Nokia announced that global telecommunication companies are expanding their trials of AI radio access networks using NVIDIA (NVDA)'s Aerial RAN computers. Nokia's AI radio access network platform has increased spectrum utilization efficiency by over 20%, and the company plans to pursue further performance improvements through software enhancements in 2027 and 2028.
Nokia Defense has also moved to expand its business in the UK defense market. Nokia Defense signed an agreement with C3IA to support the digital transformation of UK defense operations. The two companies will collaborate in secure communications, private 4G and 5G, command and control, sensing systems, autonomous systems, and edge computing. With AI communication networks and defense digitalization highlighted simultaneously, Nokia's stock price rose over 5% in pre-market trading on Wednesday.
Technically, short-term rebound signals and medium-term pressures appeared simultaneously. The stock price was approximately 2% above both the 20-day simple moving average of $10.24 and the 50-day line of $10.25, but 13.1% lower than the 100-day line of $12.02. It was 7.3% higher than the 200-day line of $9.74. Benzinga analyzed that the Moving Average Convergence Divergence (MACD) was above its signal line and the histogram remained positive, indicating strengthening short-term buying momentum.
The short-term resistance level was presented as $10.50. The 50-day exponential moving average at $10.58 is also a key breakout zone. Conversely, the support level was analyzed to be around $9.50, close to the 200-day simple moving average. Although the 20-day line is still below the 50-day line, the 50-day line remains above the 200-day line, and the golden cross formed in October 2025 continues.
Wall Street's average target price is $17. Rosenblatt initiated coverage of Nokia with a buy rating and a $15 target price, while JPMorgan maintained its overweight rating and raised its target price to $21. Argus Research also issued a buy rating with a $15 target price.
