The UK Financial Conduct Authority (FCA) has announced guidelines to help businesses determine whether they need to be authorized under the cryptocurrency regulatory framework, which will take effect in October next year. Covered activities include the issuance of eligible stablecoins, operation of crypto asset trading platforms, buying/selling and brokerage, custody, and staking intermediation. The FCA will begin accepting authorization applications from businesses on the 30th, and detailed guidelines for some technology providers and decentralized protocols will be further discussed in October.
