On-chain signals have emerged, indicating an increased possibility of a bullish reversal, as some short-term Bitcoin (Bitcoin, BTC) holders have maintained profitability for 30 consecutive days.
According to Cointelegraph on September 15 (local time), CryptoQuant analyzed that some Bitcoin short-term holders have remained in profit since August 16. This is the longest consecutive profit period since 2026. Short-term holders refer to wallets that have held unspent transactions for less than 6 months. They tend to be new investors who are sensitive to price fluctuations.
The value of Bitcoin held by short-term holders in profit amounted to $168.2 billion. The amount below the purchase price was $102.6 billion. CryptoQuant noted that the profitability has not been interrupted for 30 days, which is more significant than the difference between the two amounts. Although a profit period appeared in January, it did not last more than a week, and in May, losses maintained dominance.
CryptoQuant stated, "This is the first time short-term holders have continuously remained in profit since the market peak." In past Bitcoin market recovery processes, a trend of longer consecutive profit periods for short-term holders was observed. The same phenomenon was observed at the end of the 2022 bear market. CryptoQuant assessed this as a prerequisite for the return of a long-term upward trend.
The overall investor profit structure has also improved. The Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR), which tracks the net profit/loss of all investors, has remained above 1 (the breakeven point) since August 19. Among short-term holders, the average purchase price for wallets held for 1-3 months is $63,372. The average purchase price for wallets held for 3-6 months was recorded at $73,190.
CryptoQuant explained that the profitability of short-term holders must continue for a long period to lead to a genuine reversal of the bearish trend. The analysis is that the trend of new investors maintaining profits and choosing to hold rather than sell is a key condition for the return of a long-term upward trend.
