The White House is reportedly reviewing candidates to fill four vacant seats on the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC). According to BeInCrypto, two of these seats include Democratic nominees, but current law does not necessarily require the appointment of opposition party members. The CFTC is composed of five members, and a maximum of three members from the same political party are allowed. Currently, Chairman Michael Sellick is leading the commission alone. If the White House appoints only two additional Republican commissioners, a 3-0 structure is possible. On the other hand, if Democratic commissioners also join, the media analyzed that the review and opinion-gathering process could be prolonged in the introduction of regulations related to cryptocurrency perpetual futures, margin trading, and other related matters.
