Solana (SOL) has applied the first stage to reduce the account storage cost per byte on its testnet. Anza, Solana's network validator client, explained, "As a result, the lamports required per byte of account data decreased by approximately 9%, from 6960 to 6333. This upgrade, which will proceed in a total of 5 stages, aims to ultimately reduce it to 696, saving 90% of storage costs. Each stage will be applied sequentially after confirming that there are no issues with the network state increase, and a safeguard has also been prepared to restore it to the previous level if problems occur."
