Rep. Min Byung-duk, who serves as the Senior Vice Chairman of the Democratic Party's Policy Committee, announced its intention to proceed with the public hearing on the Digital Asset Basic Act at the end of September as scheduled, regardless of whether the government submits its draft. Immediately after a debate on virtual asset taxation held at the National Assembly on the 3rd, in a meeting with Maeil Business Newspaper, Rep. Min firmly stated, 'We will hold a public hearing on the basic act at the end of September, whether they (the government) come or not.' Regarding the Financial Services Commission's submission of the government's draft bill to the National Assembly's Political Affairs Committee in early September, Rep. Min hinted at the possibility of some relaxation, saying, 'It will likely come with some relaxations,' regarding the regulation on limiting the shareholding of major shareholders in virtual asset exchanges, which has been a key issue cited for the delay in legislating the basic act.
