Uniswap showed a double-digit surge, breaking through the overall market downturn, driven by the acceleration of token burning due to soaring protocol fees within the Robinhood Chain and a capital rotation into the DeFi sector.
According to cryptocurrency market data aggregator CoinMarketCap on September 2 (local time), Uniswap (UNI) traded at $5.84, up 12.15% from 24 hours ago, significantly outperforming the bearish trend of the overall cryptocurrency market. This price increase was not merely due to speculative demand but was directly triggered by improvements in the protocol's fundamentals and changes in its tokenomics.
The most powerful reason for the rise is the explosive increase in protocol revenue from the new Robinhood Chain. Uniswap's daily fee revenue has nearly tripled from approximately $114,000 at the end of July to a recent $325,000, with over half of this being generated on the Robinhood Chain. This fee revenue accumulates in specific smart contracts, encouraging token holders to burn their UNI to claim their share, thereby directly reducing the circulating supply. This is seen as transforming UNI from a simple governance token into a genuine fee-based deflationary asset.
A rotation into the broader DeFi sector and strong trading volume also supported the upward breakout. Major DeFi coins such as Curve (CRV) and Arbitrum (ARB) also recorded double-digit gains, while Uniswap's 24-hour trading volume surged by 73% to $786.8 million. Experts interpret the accompanying explosive trading volume as a reflection of strong buying conviction from both retail and institutional investors.
From a technical analysis perspective, Uniswap formed a solid bullish trend, trading above all major moving averages from the 7-day to the 200-day. The Fibonacci 50% retracement line at $5.52, which aligns with the 7-day Simple Moving Average (SMA), is acting as an immediate key support level. If the price maintains above this support, there is a high probability of retesting the recent high of $5.92. Conversely, if it fails to hold $5.52 on a daily close basis, there is a risk of a profit-taking pullback to around $4.81, near the 200-day Exponential Moving Average (EMA).
Market experts analyze that since Uniswap's current rally is based on fundamental improvements, specifically accelerated token burning, the sustainability of the short-term trend depends on whether the Robinhood Chain's high fee generation capability can be maintained. Furthermore, successfully solidifying the $5.52 support zone amidst short-term volatility and establishing a new valuation floor will be crucial for any future upward rally.
