CoinDesk reported that Ether.fi (ETHFI) has reformed its system to exclude restaking functionality from its liquid staking token, weETH, and now only provides general Ethereum (ETH) staking rewards. Moving forward, to participate in restaking and receive additional rewards, users must hold a separate token called weETHs. Previously, weETH holders had to bear the risks associated with both general staking and restaking, even if they didn't want to. With this reform, users can now choose whether to only use general staking or to take on additional risks to receive restaking rewards. Restaking is a method of using staked ETH for the security of other services to earn additional rewards, and it carries the risk of losing a portion of the deposited funds if a problem occurs in either of the two systems.
