BIP-110 supporter Dathon Ohm announced that BIP-110 signaling (signal indication) will begin in approximately 40 hours. BIP-110 aims to reduce the data capacity that can be stored in Bitcoin transactions, thereby restricting non-monetary transactions such as Ordinals. Dathon Ohm warned that blocks created by miners who do not signal BIP-110 within approximately 40 hours will be considered invalid. Since Bitcoin Core clients do not enforce this rule, an upgrade to Bitcoin Knots nodes was recommended. This is not an official consensus across the entire Bitcoin ecosystem or an official statement from the Bitcoin Core development team. In fact, if a node is run with only this rule applied while the majority of hash power does not enforce BIP-110, there is a risk of isolation from the majority chain of the entire network. Therefore, miners and node operators need careful technical review.
