Pavel Durov, CEO of Telegram, stated via his personal channel that the reason Telegram was temporarily unavailable for search in the Apple App Store the previous day was due to a user distributing illegal pornography in a public group chat. He explained, “Apple temporarily removed Telegram from the App Store due to an organized reporting attack. The attacker secretly inserted AI-modified illegal pornography into public groups by modifying existing posts and then directly reported it to Apple. This type of attack is a typical extortion method where money is demanded from public group administrators, and if they refuse, illegal content is planted and then reported to the platform provider."
