Galaxy Research predicted that the potential damage from the security vulnerability in Coldcard hardware wallets could increase to 2000 BTC (130 million USD). According to The Block, the research stated, "To date, 1596 BTC has been stolen from 7300 addresses through three attacks and 14 minor security incidents. This incident was caused by a random number generation flaw in Coldcard Mk3-5 and Coldcard Q firmware versions, and the issuer, Coinkite, has distributed an emergency update," it explained. It added, "If a fourth attack, for which the damage has not yet been confirmed, is included, the total damage is estimated to reach 2055 BTC. The fourth attack also follows the same pattern as the previous attacks. Currently, they are cooperating with US federal investigative agencies and exchanges to respond. It was investigated that 90% of the stolen funds have not yet been moved," it further stated.
