Shiba Inu's (SHIB) greatest competitive advantage is no longer the meme craze, but rather its ecosystem encompassing its own Layer 2 network, enterprise Web3 platform, and large-scale token burning.
According to crypto media outlet Watcher.Guru on August 2 (local time), Shiba Inu launched in August 2020 and surged by millions of percent within months, becoming a representative success story in the cryptocurrency market. In October 2021, it reached an all-time high of $0.00008616, but its price has since fallen significantly.
Shiba Inu initially positioned itself as a competitor to Dogecoin (DOGE), earning it the nickname 'Dogecoin Killer'. Its price moved similarly to the overall meme coin market, but it has since sought to transform itself from a simple internet culture or collectible item into a comprehensive cryptocurrency project with real blockchain use cases.
The core of this transformation is its own Layer 2 network, Shibarium. Shibarium provides a foundation for developers to build various applications, allowing the Shiba Inu ecosystem to not rely solely on Ethereum (ETH). Applications operating on Shibarium are steadily increasing, and this growth is expected to continue.
ShibOS, a platform that connects businesses from Web2 to Web3, was also cited as a major growth driver. As blockchain technology becomes more widespread, the demand for businesses to transition to Web3 will increase, potentially leading to a significant expansion in ShibOS adoption.
The Shiba Inu development team is also reportedly developing a new burning mechanism that could eliminate trillions of tokens annually. The massive circulating supply has been identified as a key obstacle to price appreciation. If the development team succeeds in significantly reducing the supply while maintaining demand, there is a possibility that Shiba Inu's price could rise sharply.
