The co-founder of Dogecoin (DOGE) described his experience of paying for a Las Vegas Loop ride with the cryptocurrency he created as “the most crypto-like thing.”
According to the cryptocurrency media outlet U.Today on July 28 (local time), Dogecoin co-founder Billy Markus, who goes by Shibetoshi Nakamoto on X (formerly Twitter), responded this way when ITrustCapital asked its followers about the most crypto-like thing they did over the weekend.
Markus said, “I paid for a Las Vegas Loop ride with Dogecoin. It wasn’t last weekend, but it was still the most crypto-like thing I’ve done.”
The Boring Company introduced the Dogecoin payment option when it opened its first Loop station outside the Las Vegas Convention Center in July 2022. Users could pay for rides on the Loop, a Las Vegas transportation system, with Dogecoin.
The Las Vegas Loop is a local transportation system operated by The Boring Company. Dogecoin was launched by Markus and co-founder Jackson Palmer in late 2013.
Meanwhile, according to CoinGlass data, positions worth $604 million were liquidated in the cryptocurrency market on the 28th. The KOSPI index fell 11% due to a sharp drop in Korean semiconductor stocks, and the U.S. Senate postponed processing the U.S. crypto market structure bill before its summer recess on August 8. Regarding the subsequent Bitcoin (BTC) sell-off, Markus said, “It’s really boring, and people have no attention span.”
