"No company has released an AI as good as theirs... a second Mythos will be out soon"
Elon Musk, CEO of Tesla and SpaceX, admitted that his statement last year that Anthropic could not possibly succeed was wrong.
On the 9th (local time), CEO Musk stated on the social networking service X (formerly Twitter), "I was clearly wrong about Anthropic," and evaluated, "They are currently a definite frontrunner in the artificial intelligence (AI) field."
Referring to Anthropic's top-tier AI models, he said, "No company has released models as outstanding as Mythos and Fable," and added, "There's no doubt that they (Anthropic) will soon release a second Mythos."
In response to a user's post suggesting that he could destroy Anthropic by cutting off their data center lease if he wanted to, Musk dismissed the idea, saying, "Even if they are competitors, I would not cut off relations in a way that would severely harm them," and "That's not my style."
Anthropic is reportedly leasing the 'Colossus' data center operated by SpaceXAI, a subsidiary of SpaceX's AI division, in Memphis, Tennessee, but the contract between the two companies includes a condition allowing cancellation with 90 days' prior notice.
In September last year, Musk harshly criticized Anthropic on X, saying, "Victory for Anthropic was never a possible outcome."
Additionally, throughout last year, Musk consistently referred to Anthropic negatively, criticizing them for 'hating Western civilization' and twisting their company name, which means 'humanity', into 'Misanthropic' (meaning hatred of humanity).
