It has been reported that the U.S. Department of Justice (DOJ) informed prosecutors that Binance's cooperation in cryptocurrency-related investigations would decrease starting June 8 (local time). According to BeInCrypto, the DOJ sent an internal memo to attorneys handling cryptocurrency cases, stating that Binance would no longer provide so-called "Courtesy Freezes" asset freezing services. The memo included content that Binance would require a Mutual Legal Assistance Treaty (MLAT) or other formal legal procedures before requests related to account freezing and asset seizure. In the case of MLAT, inter-governmental coordination is required, taking weeks or months for the procedure. In response, Binance countered, "There is no change in cooperation with U.S. law enforcement agencies."
