According to CNN, tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz has been 'virtually halted' as the 60-day ceasefire agreement between the US and Iran is jeopardized. Jorge Leon, Head of Geopolitics at energy research firm Rystad Energy, stated in a report on the 8th (local time) that "tanker traffic in the Strait of Hormuz currently appears to be completely cut off," adding, "This situation better reflects the current risk than any statement from Washington or Tehran." According to energy data analytics firm Kpler, only four tankers passed through the strait that day. Navin Das, Senior Crude Oil Analyst at Kpler, said, "Since the US and Iran agreed to a 60-day ceasefire on June 17, the average daily number of tankers passing through was approximately 32. This is about three times the average daily traffic from the outbreak of the conflict in February until the agreement on June 17, but it is still significantly below pre-war levels."
