Bitcoin Magazine reported that Tether is preparing to issue USDT on the BTC network through RGB, a BTC ecosystem protocol. Software company Utexo will lead the issuance and distribution through a partnership with Tether. The BTC-based USDT is expected to support instant swaps between BTC and USDT via the Lightning Network. Numerous wallets and exchanges, including Tether Wallet, have already announced support for the BTC-based USDT. Its launch is expected as early as July.
