The Central Bank of Russia announced that it plans to officially implement the cryptocurrency regulation law starting September 1, 2026 (local time). According to TASS, Vladimir Chistyukhin, First Deputy Governor of the Central Bank of Russia, stated, "A transitional period will apply from the implementation of the regulation law until July 1, 2027. During this period, market participants must prepare relevant documents, apply for registration with the regulatory authority, obtain new licenses, and streamline internal procedures. Actual operations are expected to begin between late 2026 and early 2027. From July 1, 2027, criminal and administrative penalties will come into effect, which will clearly distinguish between legal cryptocurrency activities and illegal acts under clear legal responsibility."
