Arthur Hayes, co-founder of BitMEX, has named Zcash (ZEC), NEAR Protocol (NEAR), and Hyperliquid (HYPE) as key altcoin trading targets for the next cryptocurrency bull market, instead of XRP.
According to Benzinga on May 27 (local time), Hayes, Chief Investment Officer of Maelstrom, stated in an interview with The Rollup that the next crypto bull market is already underway. He believes that the combination of artificial intelligence (AI) capital expenditure and demand for financial privacy could lead to continued liquidity expansion.
Hayes predicted that the US, Chinese, and European governments would continue to print money to fund AI infrastructure and defense spending. He analyzed that this liquidity could flow into Bitcoin (BTC) and selected cryptocurrency assets. Benzinga reported that Hayes identified Zcash, NEAR Protocol, and Hyperliquid as key trading targets for the next cycle, but did not include XRP in that list.
Zcash was presented as a cornerstone for privacy transactions. Hayes believes that users may seek shielded money in an environment of increasing AI and surveillance. NEAR Protocol was mentioned for its potential benefits in confidential intents, cross-chain private transfers, and AI agent commerce. Hyperliquid was evaluated as one of the strongest exchange-related investment opportunities in the crypto market, based on real revenue, strong tokenomics, and increasing demand for decentralized trading.
Illia Polosukhin, co-founder of NEAR Protocol, stated that the crypto market is returning to fundamentals such as revenue, users, real products, and token economics. He explained that blockspace has been commoditized, and privacy and AI-powered agents could drive the next wave of adoption.
Polosukhin revealed that NEAR Protocol aims to transition to a deflationary structure through increased revenue and reduced token inflation. He explained that the crypto industry has been overpaying for economic security costs through excessive inflation, and that governance reforms are being pursued to allow the community to lower emissions over time. The assessment is that the focus of the next bull market is shifting from mere trends to privacy, AI, real revenue, and tokenomics.
