The U.S. administration of Donald Trump is withdrawing tariffs on some imports from Taiwan, Bloomberg reported on the 27th (local time).
According to the U.S. Federal Register, the Trump administration is exempting tariffs on aluminum, steel, and copper derivatives imposed on aircraft parts imported from Taiwan.
Item-specific tariffs on Taiwanese auto parts, timber, logs, and wood derivative products will be capped at 15%.
Bloomberg reported that the U.S. tariff reduction measure on some Taiwanese imports is to implement a trade agreement between the two countries.
The U.S. and Taiwan signed a trade agreement in February that includes mutual tariff reductions, market opening, and investment expansion.
Under this agreement, the U.S. will reduce country-specific tariffs on Taiwanese products from 20% to 15%, and Taiwan will eliminate or reduce 99% of its tariff barriers.
