The Democratic Party is reportedly planning to accelerate the enactment of the second phase of the Digital Asset Basic Act in the National Assembly in the second half of this year, according to Maeil Business Newspaper. Ahn Do-geol, a Democratic Party lawmaker (Digital Asset TF Secretary), said at a policy discussion on stablecoins on the 27th, "Currently, the Digital Asset TF is in the final stages of coordinating several key issues. The Digital Asset Basic Act is expected to be discussed very quickly in the second half of the National Assembly, and the Democratic Party is thoroughly preparing for this." Meanwhile, at the discussion, it was pointed out that stablecoins have already matured beyond simple virtual assets to become payment infrastructure, and South Korea desperately needs a testbed to experiment with regulations before introducing stablecoins.
