As key figures in the cryptocurrency industry express their condolences on the sudden passing of Ondo Finance founder Nathan Allman, Ripple's David Schwartz also left a memorial message, reflecting on his collaboration with Allman.
According to U.Today, a cryptocurrency specialized media outlet, on May 26 (local time), the crypto industry is mourning the sudden death of Nathan Allman, founder of Ondo Finance, a real-world asset tokenization protocol. U.Today reported that major industry figures, including executives from Ripple and Bitget, paid tribute to Allman.
Ondo Finance officially confirmed Allman's passing in a statement today, honoring the profound impact he had on the company and the integration of traditional finance and decentralized finance. The company also announced an immediate leadership transition. Ian De Bode, who has served as president for a long time, has been appointed as the new CEO to continue Allman's mission.
Ondo Finance emphasized that continuing to build upon what Allman started is “the most meaningful way to honor him.” U.Today evaluated Allman as a person who played a significant role in the field of real-world asset tokenization, bridging traditional finance and decentralized finance.
David Schwartz, Honorary Chief Technology Officer of Ripple, expressed his gratitude on X (formerly Twitter) for having had the opportunity to work with Allman. Schwartz stated, “I had the pleasure of meeting Nathan, and he was a truly thoughtful builder and leader in this industry. We were grateful to have the opportunity to work and collaborate with him. Our thoughts are with his family and the entire Ondo team.”
U.Today reported that Ondo Finance recently completed a major institutional pilot on the XRP Ledger. Bitget CEO Gracy Chen also shared a personal anecdote of meeting Allman before the ONDO token launch in 2023, recalling that she recognized his potential early on as someone from Wall Street with a deep understanding of cryptocurrency. Chen said, “Over the next two years, we achieved so much together. I'd like to think he's still envisioning how traditional finance and decentralized finance can work together in the afterlife.”
