AI agents processed over $73 million through 176 million on-chain transactions over the past year, with 98.6% of payments made in USDC, according to a recent report by cryptocurrency market maker Keyrock. The report stated, "From May 2025 to April 2026, AI agents completed approximately 176 million on-chain transactions, with total payment volume exceeding $73 million. Notably, the average payment amount per transaction for AI agents ranged between $0.31 and $0.48, indicating the formation of a machine-centric micro-payment economy." It added, "While low-cost stablecoins are emerging as a core infrastructure for the machine economy, there are some concerns about the reliance on the regulation or infrastructure stability of stablecoin issuers. Furthermore, the regulatory frameworks of authorities in various countries are still insufficient."
