Tom Lehman, co-founder of Layer 2 project Facet, proposed including privacy transfer function EIP-8182 in the Ethereum Hegota upgrade. According to The Block, the proposal aims to support private transfers of ETH and ERC-20 tokens on the Ethereum base layer, utilizing a UTXO-based architecture and zero-knowledge proofs (Groth16). He also explained that the structure operates without admin keys, proxies, or pause functions. Lehman emphasized the need to build a single, shared privacy pool, stating that current privacy solutions have structural limitations where fragmented anonymity sets are dispersed. Hegota is an Ethereum upgrade scheduled for the second half of 2026, which will include censorship resistance features like FOCIL.
